Day 52

Make It Doable

Colossians 1:10-12

10 That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;

11 Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;

12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:

  It’s time to get in shape. You decide to buy new workout clothes; cut out gluten, dairy, sugar, and all processed foods; join a gym and work out six days a week; buy a treadmill desk to sue between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.; and ditch driving your car because you’re going to ride your bike to work. If you haven’t exercised in while making to many drastic life changes all at the same time isn’t sustainable. But what if you changed on small think at a time? What if you decided to drink only water for thirty days or walk three days a week? That seems more doable.

  The same concept rings true when making gratitude part of your lifestyle. Tiny changes help transform you completely. You can’t wake up one morning and decide to nave again utter a complaint; you would get frustrated—it’s hard work. It takes practice, prayer, and lots of grace for yourself. Try monitoring your complaining for one hour a day or write down five things you are grateful for. With small changes and consistency, you’ll get there, one step at a time.

  What is one small change you can make today for a more gratitude-filled life?
